- PRESS RELEASE
The Emirates Nationals Development Programme (ENDP) today announced 145 UAE nationals received job placements under its 'Retail Mehnati' programme through an open day initiative that was recently organised in association with the Emirates Academy, a part of Jumeirah Group.
The two open days, held at the Dubai International, Convention and Exhibition Center and Al Bustan Rotana Hotel, were attended by over 280 UAE national jobseekers who met with 22 representatives from leading companies in the retail, banking and oil and gas sectors.
As a pre-requisite to completing the recruitment process, selected candidates will undergo a nine week training course provided by ENDP and Emirates Academy, covering both theoretical modules and practical applications. The trainees will also gain hands on experience in their respective organisations, prior to being confirmed as full time employees. During this period, recruited nationals will start receiving remunerations from their prospective employers.
Azza Al-Sharhan, Director of ENDP, said: "The success of the open days reflects the private sector's faith in the capabilities of young UAE nationals. It further underlines the importance of the 'Retail Mehnati' initiative and the relevance of the training course provided in collaboration with Emirates Academy.
"The programme's previous recruits have been well-received by the retail sector, motivating us to train more UAE national job seekers for this industry segment."
The ENDP has helped in providing UAE citizens with training, orientation and work placements in several industries, especially the hospitality, trade, banking, insurance, real estate and semi government sectors. Currently, it has partnerships with various organisations to provide training and develop the capabilities of UAE nationals.

On 17 June 2006, ENDP started receiving applications from unemployed UAE national job seekers through its website and special booths in malls.
ENDP adopts four strategies through acknowledging the market needs, attracting UAE nationals, training them, recruiting them and following up on their progress. Its activities are concentrated in sectors that have proved important for the national growth such as hospitality, trade, banking, insurance, real estate and semi government sectors.
ENDP has formed industry specific committees comprising of the leaders of various private sector companies that suggest solutions to problems hindering UAE nationals from joining the private sector, and discuss their training needs.
