- United Arab Emirates: Saturday, January 05 - 2008 at 15:44
- PRESS RELEASE
Emirates Nationals Development Programme (ENDP) has revealed the identity of the "Retail Mehnati Programme" initiative, the training course aiming at enhancing UAE nationals work proficiency in the retail sector.
"The new identity assumed by the 'Retail Mehnati Programme' is a confirmation of our commitment towards providing equal opportunities to jobs in the retail sector," Azza Al-Sharhan, ENDP Director affirmed. "In this regard, the initiative further stresses our non-gender discrimination policy," she added.
Al-Sharhan explained, "We expect our logo to widely spread through retail business outlets hiring UAE staff. This would contribute to fuel healthy competition in the retail sector, the substantial channel targeted by the programme to help young national talents get recruited." Al-Sharhan further said.
The "Retail Mehnati Programme" has launched its first batch last March with a target to provide job seekers in the retail sector with the necessary training. The fourth batch has already been enrolled for training in the Emirates Academy this week. This made the number of the initiative beneficiaries over a nine-month period jump to 187 UAE males and females recruited by major UAE retail establishments.
According to the "Retail Mehnati Programme", selected candidates are scheduled to join a nine-week paid training course, covering both theoretical modules and practical applications. Practical training shall be hosted by the recruiting companies, where trainees can apply the theoretical and practical knowledge they acquired, prior to actually commencing their careers.
The Emirates Academy has developed the said training courses to meet the market needs and conform to the special nature of retail sector in the UAE.
The ENDP has contributed to providing citizens with training, orientation and work placement in several sectors, especially the entertainment, banking, trade and retail and real estate sectors in addition to semi-Governmental organizations.
