DSF OC meeting convenes to finalise DSF 2008 preparations

The DSF Organising Committee convened its second meeting for DSF 2008 on January 3, 2008, at the Dubai Municipality Club.

The thirteenth edition of the festival will begin on January 24 and last till February 24. The meeting was presided over by Saeed Al Nabouda, Chief Executive Officer of DSF and attended by a host of government dignitaries and officials who make up the Committee.

The Organising Committee discussed various aspects of DSF 2008 including preparations for the festival. With only three more weeks left for the thirteenth edition to begin, DSF's Organising Committee has finalised plans to ensure a smooth DSF 2008.

Nabouda began by congratulating the Dubai Government on the occasion of the second anniversary of HH's leadership. DSF was thr first initiative of HH to promote Dubai as the finest business and tourist destinations in the world. The festival is one of the most successful shopping, winning, and entertainment activities in the world mainly due to the HH's directives.

He also thanked ALL Dubai govt. department participating in the committee for their huge role and their efforts to cooperate with the office and organise a festival in line with the growth of Dubai.

During the meeting, the DSF office revealed the final preparations to launch DSF 2008 with less than three weeks to go. DSF recently launched a huge marketing campaign in local and international publications focusing on the festivities in Dubai during DSF 2008 and the shopping, winning activities that visitors can experience throughout 32 days. DSF also recently announced the 27 sponsors on this year's edition.

The meeting witnessed active participation from the committee members to facilitate smooth coordination between sub-committees and the DSF Office in ensuring a successful DSF edition that will go simultaneously with the stature of Dubai as a global city.

Representatives of the following government departments were present in the meeting: Dubai Municipality and Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), the Dubai Department of Civil Aviation, Dubai Naturalisation and Residency Department (DNRD), Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM), Dubai Police General Headquarters, Department of Civil Defence, Unified Ambulance Centre, Department of Health & Medical Services, Dubai Educational Zone, Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department, Dubai Cultural Council, Dubai Ports and Customs, Dubai Media City, Watani National Program, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), and the Department of Economic Development.

The thirteenth edition of DSF will begin on January 24 and go on till February 24, 2008.
