InterContinental Hotels Group appoints first Global Account Manager for KSA travel industry

InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG), the world's most global hotel operator, has appointed Sherif A.Omar as its first Global Account Manager, Travel Industry, Saudi Arabia as part of an expansion of the newly-structured global sales team based in Dubai.
Sherif's main role will be to identify new business opportunities through key accounts from the main players within the travel industry in Saudi Arabia & the Middle East , by promoting IHG's 3,800 hotels globally. With over 50% of IHG's outbound business from the Middle East coming from KSA, his role is vital in highlighting the group's seven hotel brands offered internationally.
Speaking about his appointment, Sherif Omar said, "Saudi Arabia is a tourism market with tremendous potential with the World Travel and Tourism Council predicting that it will generate SAR138.4bn ($37.0bn) of economic activity (Total Demand) in 2007, growing to SAR240.3bn ($64.2bn) by 2017. This is a great time for me to join the team and help generate further growth in this key market, as well as strengthen brand awareness by enhancing the current strategic processes and building on existing relationships."
