Pediatrics Ward at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City expands

The Sheikh Khalifa Medical City, managed by Cleveland Clinic, recently expanded its Pediatrics Ward to include 10 child - friendly short stay beds.
Expanding the Pediatrics Ward at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City.
The pediatrics short stay area admits approximately 200 patients a month, 75% of them are oncology/hematology patients that require blood and need to stay in the ward for a few hours a day for blood transfusions, chemotherapy or procedures under sedation like the EEG and cardiac echo's.
Dr. Scott Strong, Chief Medical Officer, SKMC stated that " In line with our overall strategy to improve health care services offered by SKMC under the management of Cleveland Clinic, we are proud to expand the short stay area in the Pediatric ward which is designed to increase capacity and to meet the requirements of our regular short stay patients. The expansion will allow us to provide efficient and high quality health care to our children in a more efficient and timely manner".
The Pediatric Ward at SKMC consists of 80 in-patient beds with state of the art equipment, 39 in surgical pavilion and 41 in the medical pavilion. In year 2007, a total of 1525 patients were admitted in the Pediatrics Surgical Wards and another 1880 patients in the Medical Wards.

5. Cardiology
6. General pediatrics
7. General surgery
8. Orthopedics
9. Cardiac surgery
10. Neurology
11. Emergency Medicine
12.Gastroenterology Hepatology (& Nutrition)

14. Infectious Disease
15.Rheumatology
