In the first week of 2008, BUiD is reporting high demand for its enhanced range of educational opportunities. BUiD's dedicated admissions team have noted a significant number of applications across a range of MSc programmes.

Working out of four newly designated Faculties of Business, Education, Engineering and Informatics, Programme Directors have been responding to a broad range of enquiries from prospective students seeking to enhance their careers.

Available masters courses include education, engineering, project management, sustainable development of the built environment and information technology. Each programme has been developed in conjunction with a leading UK university, while fine-tuning the content to reflect the strategic goals of further developing the UAE into a major player on the world stage.

"While fielding a high volume of inquiries, BUiD is keen to stress that there are still some places remaining on several of the Masters programmes," said Dr. Abdullah Alshamsi, Vice-Chancellor, The British University in Dubai.

"The year began with numerous of inquiries and applications arriving, but this is to be expected as recent graduates recognise the competitive and career advantages that higher education can deliver,"

added Dr. Alshamsi.

In a short space of time, BUiD has doubled the size of its student body, with more than 400 students passing through the institution since it first opened its doors in late 2004. In the same period, a distinctive demographic profile of the University's students emerged, demonstrating a 60:40 ratio of UAE nationals to other nationalities, and a more even gender division between male and female graduate students.

These trends look set to continue in 2008. Scholarships are available to students joining the February intake.
