The eco-award initiative is based on an employee's ability to segregate all recyclable materials at home and at work into three separate categories: paper and cardboard, plastics and glass, as well as aluminium cans. An e-token is provided each time an employee takes waste to the recycling centres located at Dubai Media City and Dubai Knowledge Village. Anyone amassing the highest number of e-tokens will be declared 'TECOM Investments Eco-Employee of the Year'. Highest depositors will also be recognized at the quarterly Stars event and at the annual TECOM Investments gathering.
Abdullatif AlMulla, CEO of TECOM Investments, said:
"Environmental and Social Responsibility programmes form part of our core values, which we consider essential components of our daily lives. With this new initiative, our employees and their families will be encouraged to integrate environmental social awareness as an ongoing priority."
"Our initiative will result in substantial savings in energy and water consumption while creating a better and safer environment with fewer pollutants."
TECOM Investments has launched the "e-token" programme after successfully completing a year long campaign on sustainability. The awareness drive saw more than 200 TECOM Investments' employees coming together to promote a greener lifestyle.
The e-Token programme will be implemented throughout TECOM Investments' entities including Dubai Internet City, Dubai Media City, Dubai Knowledge Village, Dubai International Academic City, International Media Production Zone, Dubai Biotechnology and Research Park, Dubai Outsource Zone, SmartCity and the Energy and Environment Park (ENPARK).
TECOM Investments has already launched several green-friendly programmes, demonstrating its commitment to corporate and socially responsible programmes. Its green building initiative covers cluster projects such as the International Media Production Zone (IMPZ), the DuBiotech, Dubai Studio City and SmartCity that highlight a more durable and responsible method of construction.
Recently, the Energy and Environment Park (ENPARK), a comprehensive eco-friendly community, installed the UAE's first solar power tracking device at the Dubai Knowledge Village.
