This is the first time that ADT has presented its global capabilities and experience to customers and prospects in the region.

ADT is the world's largest electronic security company, with 57,000 employees helping to protect more than 7 million customers in 50 countries, including 8 of the top 10 global retailers. The company has annual revenue of over $7bn and is known not only for its cutting edge technology, but also as a leading installation, service and monitoring company.

Ron Krisanda, President of the Europe, Middle East and Africa region for Tyco Fire & Security, announced the expansion at Intersec.

"With significant growth in many industries in the Middle East in recent years, expanding our operations in the region is a natural and important step for us, and both the market and our customers are asking ADT to be here," he said. "Tyco Fire & Security UAE has been providing specialist fire protection products and services to the region since 1995, predominantly in the oil and gas industry. Now ADT is joining its sister company in the region and will focus on providing electronic fire and security solutions for a range of other sectors."

Initially, ADT will focus on delivering solutions for the transport & logistics, finance & banking, technology and tourism sectors. "Although new to the market in this part of the world, ADT will be drawing on its global expertise and the heritage of Tyco Fire & Security in the region, which includes work on projects such as the Emirates Palace, The Palm tunnel and the National Bank of Dubai. This means we already have the local infrastructure in place to deliver on projects as a total solutions provider," added Mr Krisanda.

Neil Harrington, Director of Strategic Accounts for ADT Middle East, will lead business development activities in the region. "There will already be some brand awareness of ADT in the Middle East through expatriates from North America and Europe, where we are already very well known," he explains. "We aim to build on this, particularly in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Oman and Qatar, by explaining our global capabilities, backed up by the experience we have gained through working on high profile projects such as the Petronas Towers in Malaysia, the O2 Arena in the United Kingdom and the CityRail project in Australia.

"What makes us different to many companies is that we can offer total solutions rather than just focussing on particular products or technologies. Backed by the advanced technology and product brands within the Tyco family, our capability to design, integrate, install, service and monitor will offer customers in the Middle East a new experience."
