Aqaba Container Terminal appoints John Thomsen as CEO

Aqaba Container Terminal (ACT), the sole terminal in the Kingdom, has announced the appointment of Mr. John Thomsen as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) effective from January 7th 2008.
Mr. Thomsen's insight and strong strategic skills shall raise the bar and build on the success of ACT through bringing in top notch and global services that not only meets the clients' growing needs and requirements but also exceed their expectations.
His vision also extends to the investment in the manpower through providing different training courses that shall boost the employees' skills in addition to placing the needs of its employees at the center of its attention truly reflecting ACT's slogan "Where People Make the Difference".
Mr. Thomsen has been with A.P.Moller-Maersk Group since 1974 where he first joined the Danish Group as second mate in fleet. Some of his previous posts included Terminal Manager and subsequently Project Manager for Algeciras, and General Manager for the Terminal Department in the Europe Line Management in Copenhagen as well as the General Manager for Terminal Division in Algeciras.

Aqaba Container Terminal Pvt Co. (ACT) is the only Jordanian container terminal. It is a major gateway for the Jordanian market, as well as for transit cargo moving to and from other countries in the region. In 2006 a 25 years JV contract was signed between Aqaba Development Corporation (ADC) and APM Terminals International, agreeing that the new ACT Pvt Company will operate, manage and market ACT.
ACT is committed to providing a world class facility for its customers, and continuously looks for further enhancements and developments. This has already resulted in a number of upgrades to the facility and its equipment.
