Awarded to the player that hits a hole-in-one on what is arguably one of the most challenging holes on the course - the 200-yard 7th - the pin-point tee shot will have to steer clear of the water to the front and right and land on the meandering green, which is bordered by treacherous bunkers.
'We all know how rare it is to sink a hole-in one; however any player on any given day has a chance at making this epic shot. With the massive breadth and depth of talent on display at this year's event, it is entirely possible that the stunning National Course could see its first Championship 'ace',' said Peter German, Executive Tournament Director, Abu Dhabi Golf Championship - which runs from the 17-20th January 2008.
The UAE capital's Emirates Palace - a 394 room and suite hotel at the end of the city's scenic Corniche - is a platinum sponsor of the Abu Dhabi Golf Championship, and will be the home away from home for the players for the duration of the tournament.
'The Abu Dhabi Golf Championship is one of the highlights on the European PGA Tour calendar and kick-starts the year's calendar in enigmatic style. The Emirates Palace is honoured to be associated with this world-class golf event and we look forward to welcoming the players and enlightening them to the wonders of Arabian hospitality,' said Hans Olbertz, General Manager, Emirates Palace.
Emirates Palace is also making the experience for spectators as stress-free as possible, by offering a complimentary shuttle service to transport visitors to and from the parking to the golfing village entrance.
In addition to the lifetime stay at the Emirates Place, the Abu Dhabi Golf Championship's Automotive Sponsor - Nissan - is offering an attractive prize to professionals who are able to get an ace on a 177-yard 15th hole, a severely sloping green cut into a steep bank which is flanked by three greenside bunkers.
The award-winning automobile manufacturer will give away a Nissan 350Z - one of the most powerful sports vehicles on the market today. 310bhp, a unique mid-ship platform, and a race car inspired driver's cockpit keep the world-class performance pure.
'Our participation in this internationally recognized event further reinforces Nissan's position as a supporter of the community's sports and culture scene,' said David Radcliffe, General Manager of Al Masaood Automobiles. 'We look forward to awarding the lucky winner with one of our top-of -the-range cars, the Nissan 350Z.'
As part of their automotive sponsorship, Nissan are also providing a fleet of 25 top of the range ARMADA full-size SUVs to transport players and officials during the tournament.
With all four days of the Abu Dhabi Golf Championship being covered on live TV and reaching a global audience of over 140 million in key global markets, the 2008 championship formally begins on Wednesday, January 16 with the Al-Masaood Pro-Am and Awards Gala when sponsors and their guests will play and socialise with some of the world's best professionals.
