Set in the Emirates Hills residential community, the course was designed by Colin Montgomerie in association with Desmond Muirhead. It covers 265 acres, which consist of 123 acres of turf, 49 acres of man-made lakes (14 in total), 93 acres of landscaped gardens and has 81 large bunkers. One of the signature holes is the par 5 fourth, dubbed the Snake hole for its saddleback fairway which doglegs towards the green, with two bunkers behind forming the eyes of the snake. The par 3 thirteenth, a hole designed in the shape of the UAE.

An 18-hole, par 72 course that is 7,200 yards in length, it opened in 2004. The course meanders through a mangrove reserve with the Hajar Mountains behind it. The back nine holes and practice facilities are fully floodlit for night play. Players must have a valid handicap or playing certificate and must have their own clubs and golf bag.
