The Samir Kassir Award for Freedom of the Press is now open for applications from Qatari nationals, reported Gulf Times. Candidates have until March 30 to apply for the award, which will be presented by a delegation of the European Commission to Lebanon, in association with the Samir Kassir Foundation, at a ceremony in Beirut on June 2. The award celebrates the 'power of the written word' and 'freedom of expression,' and is dedicated to the development of journalism in the Middle East.
