Panasonic, the leading global manufacturer of consumer electronics and home appliances, has announced that it is displaying a wide range of its energy saving products and highlighting its initiatives aimed at reducing environmental impact during the manufacture of its advanced technology products, at the First World Future Energy Summit (WFES) that began Monday, January 21, 2008 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre.

Seiji Koyanagi, Managing Director, Panasonic Marketing Middle East, said, "Panasonic has shown a long standing commitment to environment protection, and over the years we have invested substantial resources in manufacturing products that have minimal impact on the environment. The WFES is the perfect platform for us to demonstrate our latest range of energy saving products and our series of initiatives in this regard."

Panasonic recently renewed its commitment to climate change by adding ecological goals to its "GP3" three-year business plan that completes March 2010. As a manufacturing company, Panasonic is aiming to eliminate 300,000 tons of CO2 emissions over three years. The company also presented its "Panasonic Eco Ideas Declaration" identifying the three initiatives - Eco ideas for products, Eco ideas for manufacturing, and Eco ideas for everybody, everywhere - on which its environmental management activities focus.

Panasonic's new built-in type IH Cooktop uses innovative technology to create higher levels of performance, safety and comfort. The cooking heater, which uses dual coils in each of its high-powered heating elements, allows for up to 30 per cent faster heating than gas burners.

Panasonic's unique e-ion Air Purification system now lets you enjoy both cool air with air conditioning and clean air with air purification from a single unit offering the 2-in-1 value of an air-conditioner and air purifier.

Panasonic is showcasing its range of lead-free Plasma Display Panels (PDP), the central picture component of plasma TV's and modules, at the Summit. Panasonic is the world's first company to offer lead-free PDP, and the company has invested in advanced technology to replace the use of lead oxide glass products, commonly used in television products.

In addition, Panasonic is also displaying its latest corner speakers that use bamboo fibres. Bamboo is much more durable than other materials currently used in speakers, and it offers a more extensive sound range.
