"EcoVentures sets out to deliver sound consultancy, advisory and management services to public and private sector organisations in the Middle East and North Africa region based on global best practices and to internationally recognised standards," said entrepreneur and co-founder Shezan Amiji. "We will be aiming to build awareness, foster innovation and build a new and exciting business around the effective and responsible management of resources."
EcoVentures' partners at launch include the CarbonNeutral Company, the worldwide pioneer in the provision of carbon management services.
"The launch of EcoVentures is an important step forward and reflects the fast-growing awareness of the importance of environmental concerns at the leadership level in the Middle East region," said Bill Sneyd, Head of the Advisory team at The CarbonNeutral Company. "We believe that the region has a vital opportunity to move ahead with a strong commitment to the environment and this has been clearly shown by the leadership of His Highness General Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum."
The CarbonNeutral Company is the world's leading carbon offset and climate consulting business: founded over 10 years ago the company works with over 200 clients in the private and public sectors worldwide. TCNC helps companies to measure their carbon emissions, make changes to reduce those emissions, and acquire carbon credits from third parties to offset the remainder, allowing them to become carbon neutral. TCNC sources carbon credits either from projects that meet its own CarbonNeutral Protocol standard, or have been certified under other globally recognized schemes, including the UN's CDM and CER schemes, Gold Standard and the Voluntary Carbon Standard.
"It is critical that the countries of the MENA region embrace new innovations in the fields of greenhouse gas reduction, renewable energies and the development of sustainable water resources at this time,"
said EcoVentures' co-founder and Chairman Khamis Juma bu Amim.
"We believe that EcoVentures can play a significant role in helping clients in the region to reduce and even eliminate their carbon footprint, as well as to explore other avenues open to them in the development and use of renewable energies and sustainable water resources."
EcoVentures' initial focus on carbon management is set to broaden into other areas of environmental impact management, again based on strategic partnerships with the world's leading environmental best practice organisations. "We believe the EcoVentures opportunity is truly regional and can produce change in number of areas where action increasingly needs to be taken, including renewable energies, sustainable water resource management and waste management," said Amiji.
The company is licensed and operates from the EnPark Free Zone (Energy and Environment) in Dubai, U.A.E.
