Metito will be highlighting the environmental and economic benefits from the new trends of water treatment, alongside addressing the issue of water scarcity in the region, at the World Future Energy Summit 2008 currently being held in Abu Dhabi.

Metito's participation in this year's summit addresses the global demand for water and energy, highlighting self sufficient systems and innovative processes for unused water and energy sources. A key focus for the exhibitor is on the importance of finding alternative environmentally friendly methods for water treatment to face the soaring upscale current charges.

"Research has proven that $35 trillion is needed globally on electricity and water infrastructure in order to keep sufficient supply till 2030" said Budoor Hunnoon, Corporate Communications Manager of Metito on the required amount of expenditure to face the increasing demand for water and power supplies until 2030 globally.

"Unless the governments and the private sector join forces that number might double or triple. At Metito, we have adapted new technologies incorporating the use of renewable, environmentally friendly sources of energy as part of our ongoing research of water treatment." She added.

During the summit, Metito, a big patron of green energy will be showcasing the use of renewable energy in water and waste water treatment. In the Middle East the forecasted expenditure on water projects is $120 billion in the next decade which is significantly low when compared to the global expenditure for the same purpose and unless governments and private companies get together to face this problem water shortage is going to be imminent especially with lack of fresh water supply.

As more people are getting "Carbon Footprint" conscious, a method where the emissions of polluting carbon for each person are calculated, it is vital that alternative sources of energy are adapted and developed as it is only a matter of time that people will demand a greener supply of energy. The use of renewable natural resources for producing power and water is a huge environmental achievement. This new advancement saves the environment thousands of tons of green house gas emission in addition to reducing excessive utilization of the limited natural resources

Metito, founded in 1958, is a shining example of a Middle Eastern company that has grown to be a world leader in its field. Metito operates locally in 14 countries of the Arab and Islamic World, and supplies its plants internationally to locations as far apart as Argentina and Australia from its base in the UAE. Some of the company's notable achievements in 2007 include the rehabilitation of the Hartha & Najibiyah power stations in Iraq, the water supply to Pelindo ports in Indonesia, drinking water supply to Sharm el Sheikh in Egypt and the innovative reuse of water at The Palm, Jumeirah.

The World Future and Energy Summit is currently being held in Abu Dhabi until January 23rd.
