New DM organisational structure approved

Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, UAE Minister of Finance and Industry and Chairman of Dubai Municipality, has approved the new organisational structure of Dubai Municipality.
Announcing this, Hussain Nasser Lootah, Acting Director General of Dubai Municipality, said the new organisational structure was reviewed by the Executive Council of the Emirate of Dubai which recommended for its approval.
"The new set-up comes in line with the requirements of the Dubai Strategic Plan (DSP) and it will ensure a smooth and effective implementation of the plans and programmes envisioned in the DSP," he said.
Lootah noted that the Municipality's Strategic Plan for 2007-2011 was also taken into consideration in shaping the new organisational structure. Based on this, some new departments were set up, some departments were merged, and names of some other departments were amended giving them more independence in line with advanced administrative systems and international standards in this regard.
All departments and organisational units dealing with international affairs and partnership such as the awards, organisations, international authorities, corporate marketing, exhibitions and the planning and development office will now report to the Director General directly.
The name of Public Relations and Organisations Department has been amended to read as Clients Relations Department which will report to the Deputy Director General of the municipality. Other departments reporting to him include Corporate Excellence Department (new), and Quality Accreditation Department.
In the Corporate Support Services sector, there are five departments: Human Resources Department, Finance Department, Information Technology Department, Knowledge Department (new) and Contracts & Purchasing Department.
In the Engineering and Planning Sector, there are six departments: Planning Department, Geographical Information Systems Department, General Projects Department, Survey Department (new), Buildings Department, and Architectural Heritage Department (new).
In the Environment & Public Health Services Sector, there are six departments: Public Health Services Department (name changed), Drainage and Irrigation Department, Public Parks and Horticulture Department, Waste Department (new), Sewage Network Department (new), Sewage Water Treatment Plant Department (new).
The Health, Safety & Environment Monitoring Sector includes four departments: Environment Department, Food Control Department (new), Public Health and Safety Department (new), and Dubai Central Laboratory Department.
The General Support Services Sector includes six departments: Public Libraries Department (previously a section), Transportation Department, Dubai Government Workshop Department (new), General Maintenance Department, Properties Department (new), and Municipality Centres Department.
Meanwhile, Hussain Lootah, Acting Director General of Dubai Municipality, has issued a set of administrative decrees transferring and appointing directors for different departments.
They include Humaid Saeed Al Marri, who was appointed as the new Director of the Transportation Department, Abdullah AbulRahman Abdullah as the new Director of the Human Resources Department, Rashad Mohammed Bukhash as the new Director of the Architectural Heritage Department, Mohammed Noor Mashroom as the new Director of the General Projects Department, and Arif AbulRahman Ahli as the new Director of the Finance Department.
