- Oman: Saturday, January 26 - 2008 at 12:01
- PRESS RELEASE
The Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), a global organization that is committed to enhancing the technical and professional competence of oil & gas industry professionals, will be holding its first international conference in Oman - in conjunction with the Oil & Gas West Asia (OGWA) 2008 exhibition this April.
"With the SPE managing a first-class technical conference, the event will truly serve as an ideal opportunity for all industry professionals to learn about the latest developments and challenges related to implementation of EOR technologies," said C.J. Paul, General Manager of Omanexpo LLC, the leading exhibition management company in the Sultanate.
Under an operating agreement between the parties, the SPE will organize and manage the conference, while Omanexpo LLC will handle the exhibition component of OGWA 2008. This partnership is expected to contribute in further raising the standards and regional profile of the biennial event, which will now play a wider role in the vibrant oil & gas industry of the Middle East.
"We are delighted to be part of OGWA 2008 and to lend our expertise in promoting professional excellence and the continuous professional growth of those in the oil & gas industry," said Waleed Refaay, Managing Director of SPE Middle East, North Africa and India. "Our involvement is consistent with our organization's mission to collect, disseminate, and exchange technical knowledge concerning the exploration, development and production of oil and gas resources."
The SPE's Programme Committee is composed largely of representatives from leading energy companies - including Petroleum Development Oman (PDO), Saudi Aramco, Shell, Oman Oil, ADNOC, Halliburton, ADMA-OPCO, Oil and Natural Gas Corporation of India (ONGC), and Schlumberger. The Oman Ministry of Oil & Gas is also represented at senior level.
The OGWA 2008 exhibition has received a strong response from interested companies, with over 100 local and international oil & gas firms - and their overseas principals - already confirming their participation. This year's exhibitors will come not only from Oman but also from India, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, Germany, Italy, Russia, China, Singapore, Malaysia, France, the UK, USA and the UAE.
