The Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing has implemented a nine-week 'Maharat' hospitality training programme for UAE nationals, many of whom are now employed by global hotel chains. The number of UAE nationals working in the hotel industry has crossed the 700 mark from 15 in 2002. The project is supported by Accor, Hyatt International, Jebel Ali International, Jumeirah, Rotana, Shangri-La, Sheraton, Dusit, InterContinental, Fairmont, Hilton, Kempenski Mall of the Emirates, and Le Royal Meridien.
