'Energy Diversity is the Key' is General Motors' message at the WFES in Abu Dhabi

Energy diversity is the way forward in order to remove the automobile from the environmental debate - that was the message of a keynote speech given by General Motors' (GM) Director of Environment, Energy and Safety Policy, Dr Mary Beth Stanek, at this week's World Future Energy Summit (WFES) in Abu Dhabi.
"As a fundamental part of this strategy, the number of different elements that we are focusing on includes improved Fuel Efficiency via advances in engine and transmission technology, E85 Ethanol, Hybrid Technology, Electric Technology and Fuel Cell Technology. This means that with the new technology that is in the pipeline, GM customers will be able to go from 'Gas Friendly' to 'Gas Free'," she continued.
GM, which was the only mainstream automotive manufacturer represented at the WFES, has been operating in the Middle East for more than 80 years. Over this period it has been bringing the latest designs and technologies to the region, and it is now also actively pursuing its policy of Energy Diversity here.
Last November General Motors Middle East signed an agreement with the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) to set up a programme that will include a collaborative local market evaluation of GM's all-new Chevrolet Tahoe Two-Mode Hybrid and the all-new Chevrolet Malibu Hybrid.
