Attending the festival were a number of VIPs including the festival's Patron HRH Prince Khaled bin Sultan bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud. The UAE was represented strongly at the festival with HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister of the UAE and Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, ruler of Ajman attending the event and winning many awards for their Arabian horses during the festival.

While attending the festival Nashwa was pleased to have the opportunity to personally express her appreciation of the festival to HRH Prince Khaled, stating, 'I myself have been working for many years to promote Arabic culture here in the region and outside as I feel we have so much to offer and be proud of. I am delighted that such a festival for one of the most beautiful symbols of our heritage has been established and I wish HRH the best of luck with the festival and future projects.'

The Inaugural Festival was held from 15th - 18th January 2008 in Riyadh at HRH Prince Khaled bin Sultan bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud's Al Khalediah farm and was established to promote and develop the equestrian disciplines in which the Arabian horse competes. The festival included an auction of exceptional purebred Arabian Horses and a racing display of the racehorses.

The first of its kind in the Arabian Peninsula, the Al Khalediah Arabic Horse Festival was furthermore established to highlight to the world the prestige and historical importance of these magnificent animals and to maintain the perseveration of Arabian culture. The Arabian Horse has played a significant part in the development of Arabian culture. Being the oldest breed of horse in existence dating back as far as five thousand years, the Arabian horse gained its prestige and importance while aiding conquering armies in the green crescent of Mesopotamia. Known for their exquisite beauty, intelligence, stamina, and devotion to their owners the Arabians have since become one of the most popular breeds in the world.

In line with Nashwa Al Ruwaini's long-term vision for her production company Pyramedia, she is currently planning to expand her projects into the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Pyramedia offices are scheduled to open in Saudi Arabia later this year.
