Land Rover has achieved its third successive record sales year with 226,395 cars sold around the world in 2007. That's an increase of 17.6% on the previous year.
It's the first time Land Rover, which celebrates its 60th anniversary this year, has driven through the two hundred thousand sales barrier.
In the Gulf region Land Rover witnessed significant growth and achieved a 29% increase over 2006. The Middle East remains an important market with Land Rover's flagship model, The Range Rover, contributing 11%, and the dynamic Range Rover Sport an impressive 20%.
The Land Rover LR2, the new compact SUV model launched early last year exceeded expectations in its first year of launch whilst the LR3 saw an increase of 23%.
2007 Saw Land Rover selling around 30,000 vehicles in markets it did not even have a presence in five years ago. There was also significant sales progress in emerging markets like Russia, and China, and records sales in US, Canada, Spain and Ireland. UK was the biggest market with over 50,000 sales.
Land Rover now has the strongest product line-up with five distinct models: The Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, LR3, LR2 and Defender.
Land Rover has a strong presence in the region and has sustained its position at the forefront of the luxury SUV market. The company takes its responsibility to the environment seriously and has launched the world's biggest consumer CO2 Offset Programme.
Land Rover recently unveiled a vision of its future with the LRX concept vehicle - a three-door, premium 4x4 - a bold evolution of Land Rover design and technology at the Detroit Motor Show in January.
