RAK developing $2.2bn tourism zone

A $2.2bn, 350 acre hospitality and tourism zone is being set up in Ras Al Khaimah to provide logistics for the industry and to train hotel staff. Part of the International Hospitality Trade and Training Zone (Ihottz) in Ras Al Khaimah will include a 90 acre university campus, teaching up to 15,000 students a year across all levels, from those new to the business to senior people who want to undertake vocational courses to further their careers.

A 10 year development, courses will start in 18 months in its 16 universities. It is aimed at the international community and hopes to attract people from around the world to train in various aspects of the hospitality business, before returning to work in the industry in their home country.
