Speaking at the MEED Ras Al Khaimah Conference today, Dr Imad Haffar, CEO of Rakeen, said none of the available green standards were the 'true answer' to what developments in RAK need, such as sustainable energy supplies. Rakeem is working on nine projects in the emirate, worth between Dhs6bn and Dhs9bn.

The company will also investigate the use of alternative energies, such as solar heating and cooling and wind power.
