Rakeem introduces own green building code

  • United Arab Emirates: Monday, January 28 - 2008 at 19:08

Ras Al Khaimah developer Rakeem is introducing a green building code that will be followed by all its developments. Among its aims, the code cuts the watts per square metre used by properties. The company will also investigate the use of alternative energies, such as solar heating and cooling and wind power.

Speaking at the MEED Ras Al Khaimah Conference today, Dr Imad Haffar, CEO of Rakeen, said none of the available green standards were the 'true answer' to what developments in RAK need, such as sustainable energy supplies. Rakeem is working on nine projects in the emirate, worth between Dhs6bn and Dhs9bn.
