Saudi to raise wages, welfare payments

Saudi Arabia plans to raise wages, welfare payments and subsidies to help offset rising disaffection over inflation, reported retuers. With inflation in the kingdom surging to a 16-year high, the Saudi government said it will increase public sector wages and pensions by 5% for three years, raise social insurance benefits by 10%, and subsidise half the cost of shipping and some administrative expenses including those for driving licences and passports.
