  • Saudi Arabia: Tuesday, January 29 - 2008 at 09:45

Saudi Arabia plans to raise wages, welfare payments and subsidies to help offset rising disaffection over inflation, reported retuers. With inflation in the kingdom surging to a 16-year high, the Saudi government said it will increase public sector wages and pensions by 5% for three years, raise social insurance benefits by 10%, and subsidise half the cost of shipping and some administrative expenses including those for driving licences and passports.
