Dubai Food Festival 2008 to witness world record attempt for biggest Manakish

The Dubai Food Festival 2008, a treat for food enthusiasts during DSF 2008, will get more exciting when the 'Largest Manakish' will be attempted to gain an entry into the Guinness World Records.
Manakish is a popular food consisting of baked dough topped with cheese or thyme or ground meat, and an integral part of Middle Eastern cuisine. Chefs from the Lebanese restaurant Sidra will attempt to create a record using in the process about ten kilos of thyme topping and more than 12 litres of oil.
Tshering Idnani, DSF Senior Events Coordinator said, "DSF is celebrating ten years of continuous record breaking and there couldn't be a better way to start the year than making an attempt during Dubai Food Festival 2008. The biggest Manakish is just one of the exciting surprises lined up for visitors to the Dubai Food Festival 2008."
Sixteen restaurants from some of the finest in Dubai are participating in the week-long event that will see a variety of cuisines spread out for food fanatics. Activities include cooking demonstrations, competitions, entertainment, and loads of food to taste.
The official Kitchen sponsors for Dubai Food Festival 2008 are Teka Kutchentechnik and Kuppersbusch. While the furniture sponsors are Cater Tech, the official distributors are the Blue Truck Company.
The Dubai Food Festival is a unique DSF event that combines food and entertainment for visitors and families. The thirteenth edition of Dubai Shopping Festival will be held between January 24 and February 24.
