This leading position clearly demonstrates the strength of BNP Paribas' product offerings in the GCC region which were reinforced during 2007 through the creation of a specialised Debt Capital Markets team in Bahrain covering both syndicated loan and bond origination.

To reflect BNP Paribas' strong relationship franchise in the Gulf, the Bank successfully arranged a large number of syndicated loans for a broad client segment encompassing large corporates, mid caps, financial institutions as well as project related financings.

BNP Paribas was significantly ahead of its peers in terms of both volume and number of transactions commanding a market share of just under 10%.

Landmark transactions in 2007 included financings to Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank, Allana International, Barwa Real Estate Company, Damas, Depa Interiors, Emirates Trading Agency, Gulf International Bank, Qatar Telecom, Saad Investments, Saad Trading and Tabreed.
