  • PRESS RELEASE

Dubai Shopping Festival has added fresh life to Dubai's jewellery sales with the trade recording Dhs240m in sales in the first week of DSF.

According to Tawhid Abdullah, Managing Director, Dubai Gold & Jewellery Group:

"Increased numbers of visitors and shoppers during DSF have definitely helped the jewellery trade. Though prices are high, it has not dampened sales during this period. Local customers, visitors from oil rich countries like Saudi Arabia and other parts of the world flock to shopping malls and the Gold Souk during DSF to avail great offers and choose from the wide variety of jewellery designs available. DGJG's daily DSF raffle draws for 1 kilo of gold have also added an element of surprise to jewellery shopping."

Though high gold prices have tempted many to opt for diamond jewellery, the demand for 22kt and 24 kt gold jewellery remains strong, fuelled by demand from Indian and Arab customers.

To enter DGJG's daily draw for 1 kilo gold during this DSF, all customers need to do is purchase Dhs500 worth of gold jewellery from any of the jewellery outlets in Dubai participating in the shopping festival. DGJG has also introduced a special 'Win with the winner' scheme for participating retailers whereby customer service staff receive a cash award of Dhs3000 if the winning coupon was obtained from the respective outlet. So far DGJG has given away 6 kg gold in daily raffle draws since the beginning of DSF 2008, another 26 kg will be given away in due course.

Since the inception of DSF in 1996, DGJG has given away more than 600 kilos of gold in prizes.

As a key destination for gold and jewellery shopping, the Gold Souq sports a new look this DSF with decorations and illuminations bringing alive Dubai's oldest trading centre for jewellery.

DGJG's DSF promotions are in association with the World Gold Council and supported by Visa as the preferred payment partner.
