Freedom of press in Kuwait

Kuwait: Sunday, February 03 - 2008 at 10:45

Kuwait's Information Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khalid Al-Sabah described his country's press as having 'a high ceiling of freedom' that was governed by the Press and Publications Law in order to achieve social maturity and development, reported Arab Times. The minister explained that there were no 'red lines' for the press as long as the Press and Publications Law was adhered to, 'thus guaranteeing justice and protecting the society.' Moreover, he expressed Kuwait's pride with the publication of new political dailies, which he said were expected to exceed 12 by the end of this year, describing this as 'a healthy phenomenon.'
