To celebrate the sales success, a royal gala dinner was held recently at the Burj Al Arab in the investors' and developers companies' honour.

The delivery of the plots is in progress, with some developers already proposing tentative layouts; while initial construction on the plots will only commence at the completion of the infrastructure phase, which is rapidly progressing, by the end of 2008. All contractors and developers are also obliged to secure green building certification for their projects in line with the development policies and strict environmental standards of Dubai Maritime City, and following the directions of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai

Speaking at the royal gala dinner, Fareed Mohamed Ahmed, Dubai World Secretary General, expressed the appreciation of Dubai World to the developers who pledged to achieve the vision of Dubai Maritime City. "This is a phenomenal result; underscoring the anticipation of what will become one of Dubai's most distinguished landmarks and maritime attractions. We look forward to witnessing the vision and creativity of the developers and contractors who will consolidate the long-term success of this first-of-its-kind project through their iconic creations."

On completion the Dubai Maritime City, which is currently in its third and final phase of construction, will encompass six districts; namely Harbour Offices, Harbour Residences, the Maritime Centre, an Academic Quarter, a Marina District, and the Industrial Quarter managed by Jadaf Dubai. The project will also incorporate the UAE's first National Maritime Museum, a range of iconic infrastructure, and the Gulf region's largest ship lift for ship repair and maintenance

Amer Ali, CEO of Dubai Maritime City, added, "We are pleased to have such leading developers and contractors show their commitment to this world-class project. We will work together to achieve the City's long-term sustainability and provide high-quality in every aspect, such as the abidance by the green building concept and the implementation of strict environmental standards so as to create optimised living and working conditions."
