Al Ghurair City presents 'Out of Arabia'

Al Ghurair City, the first shopping mall in the Middle East, has announced an exciting and colourful programme of events that celebrate the vibrant customs of the region, as part of its diverse range of activities during the Dubai Shopping Festival.

The week-long "Out of Arabia" event, which gets underway on 3 February, recognises the importance of tradition and its influencing role in the Arab family. With a large number of visitors from around the world expected to visit the mall during the DSF period, the Arabic themed week will allow them to experience the culture and customs of the region.

The events have been designed to offer visitors the opportunity to experience the Arab way of life and hospitality, whether it is through the serving of dates and kahwa (coffee), a tradition when welcoming guests into the home, or by providing cultural entertainment that is normally staged at family gatherings and weddings.

The line-up of activities at the mall from February 3 to February 9 include performances by an Arabic band showcasing their talent through the Oudh, Violin, Kanoon and Tableh daily from 6pm to 8.15pm and an Arabic saxophone player from 8.30pm to 10pm.

Vibrant local dances like the Harbeya that are performed at family gatherings and weddings will also take place at the mall to entertain visitors on February 7 from 6:30pm to 9:30pm while the local Yola dancers will be on show on February 8 from 6:30pm to 9:30pm. The "Out of Arabia" week will conclude with the Female dance troupe taking centre stage on February 9 from 6:30pm to 9:30pm.

Powerful mall promotion


In the mall promotion, shoppers spending a minimum Dhs200 in any of Al Ghurair City's well known shops will enter a raffle draw that will give them the opportunity to win a BMW X5 and a trip to an African safari destination of their choice. Retail outlets representing leading local and international brands, will add to the shopping excitement by offering special deals and incentives during DSF.

Competition


A specially conceived competition will allow shoppers to submit photographs they have of their most memorable holiday experience. The winning photograph will be chosen by a panel of judges with the winner being rewarded with a holiday to the same destination that is featured in the picture.
