Information is as critical to the energy industry as the oil and gas that it produces. It can improve production, give a competitive edge over rivals and help retain valuable knowledge from an expert workforce.

So it's vital that the industry has data, document, information and knowledge management strategies in place that protect this valuable resource for the future.

Key issues that will be covered include data integration, document management, legacy data conversion and innovative ways of gathering and utilizing staff knowledge.

The high-level program features presentations from key people such as Eldar Bjorge, Data Management Department Manager, StatoilHydro who will be exclusively discussing strategies for integrating Statoil and Hydro's sub-surface data after both companies merged.

While Dr Alessandro Allodi, head of Information Management at PDO will discuss innovative approaches of using ontological taxonomies and folksonomies to classify data.

With the 'big crew change' looming, Andy Boyd, Knowledge Manager will impart vital and alternative approaches to knowledge management through the use of communities, blogs and Wikis.

A highlight of this summit is two days of topic focused and solution finding workshops led by ADCO, Shell and Dolphin Energy that cover the key areas of data, information, document and knowledge management.
