As a part of the BBA program requirements, graduating students at the University of Dubai (UD) have to embark on a business simulation game in the Capstone course (also known as Strategic Management).

They undertake to overall manage 'the production company' strategically - having plants to operate, a workforce to compensate, inventories to control, accounting and cost data to examine, capital expenditure decisions to make, marketing and sales campaigns to wage, shareholders to satisfy and worry about, sales forecasts to consider, and fluctuations in interest rates and the stock market to take into account. The student teams consider these factors in light of an overall company strategy when making decisions.

More than 350 leading universities worldwide are participating in this business simulation game. Since its introduction in Fall 2004 semester, UD students found the game overtly challenging, interesting, and definitely a rewarding experience for their career development. In Fall 2007 semester, one team secured the 23rd rank internationally with a cumulative profit of $307.626 Million over 8 rounds, out of 1,367 teams. The second team secured 40th rank with a cumulative profit of $ 272.879m over 8 rounds.

M. Omar Hefni, the President of UD, was very proud of the students' performance in the Capstone course. He noted that the simulation allows students to apply their learning on business strategy to a competitive situation, giving them hands-on experience in analysis, judgment, and integrative decision-making in an internationally competitive arena. Students learn to live and deal with the consequences of their decisions. The business sector and industry as a whole, has greatly appreciated the students' performance and achievements in this course.
