- PRESS RELEASE
Carpet Oasis, the largest carpet, rug, and handicrafts exhibition in the region, is looking forward to another successful season during DSF 2008.
Organised in cooperation with the Dubai Ports and Customs Authority, the Carpet Oasis showcased about 100,000 carpets last year and welcomed more than 50,000 visitors.
Abdurahman Eesa, Head of the Organising Committee for Carpet Oasis said, "This year there will be new activities throughout the 32 days of the festival with the Carpet Oasis being open 7 days a week from 10 to10pm on weekdays and from 4 to 11pm on Fridays. The exhibition is not just a trading platform but an ideal opportunity to view some of the finest carpets in the world. "
A new exhibition within the Carpet Oasis is the Art Oasis that will include numerous art displays of various kinds. In addition to the Arts Oasis, activities such as the family products exhibitions, and several art workshops organized by the Dubai Women's Club are included in this year's exhibition. Rare antique items and art pieces are also part of the exhibition.
The importance of the exhibition is the fact that it has contributed substantially to the economy of Dubai and in the course of time, made Dubai an important destination for carpet buyers and traders. An interesting feature of the exhibition is that only handmade carpets will be displayed this year to maintain a high standard of quality.
The carpets and rugs being displayed are being brought from places renowned for the mastery of weaving such as Iran, Afghanistan, Turkey, and Kashmir.
