Speaking at the ceremony, Saeed Khoory, ENOC Group Chief Executive, congratulated the Vopak Horizon Fujairah management and contractors for completing the expansion project on time and within budget.
"Fujairah is already a major bunkering centre and strategic hub for fuel oil storage. This expansion comes at a time when the global oil trade and shipping industry are witnessing unprecedented growth, helping enhance Fujairah's reputation and growth."
"ENOC is committed to further developing its footprint in Fujairah, making Vopak Horizon Fujairah the partner of choice for the energy sector," Khoory added.
Referring to Vopak's 10 years of existence in Fujairah, John Paul Broeders, Chairman of Royal Vopak's Executive Board, said that the terminal has steadily expanded over the years to meet increasing demand.
"It has been a win-win relation for Vopak Horizon Fujairah Limited and Fujairah. The company continues to expand in its constant bid to meet the ever-growing demand for bunkering and fuel oil, while Fujairah's significance as a strategic oil trade hub has also increased. We could not have achieved all these without the support of local authorities and partners."
Vopak Horizon Fujairah is currently working on the next phase of expansion with a planned addition of another 1.2 million cbm and four to six more berths on the north side of the terminal. Once the new expansion is completed, the oil terminal will have a total capacity of 2.7 million cbm. This will enable Vopak Horizon Fujairah to further improve its hub-function in the Middle East for black and clean mineral-oil products.
