The Bank was a key Sponsor of the conference, which was a part of the broader plans of the Awqaf and Minors Affairs Foundation. The event was held at Al Bustan Rotana Hotel in Dubai from the 4th to the 6th of February 2008.

A number of regional and international endowment foundations, including numerous experts in the field of endowments, social development and Islamic economics were present at the three day conference. "The Awqaf and Minors Affairs Foundation plays a crucial role in ensuring that endowment money is put to the best possible use" said Mr. Faisal Aqil, General Manager Retail Banking, Emirates Islamic Bank.

"As a bank that has actively supported social development and Islamic values, we share a lot in common with the Foundation. Being key Sponsors of the event is our way of supporting valuable community initiatives,"

he added. Mr. Aqil received a Certificate of Merit from the organizers in recognition of the services rendered by the bank towards this cause.

The Awqaf and Minors Affairs Foundation helps promote the investment of endowment money by working on the growth of endowment property and income by using all means necessary within the purview of Islamic laws. International affiliates will give the conference a global perspective on endowment investments.

As a bank whose foundations are based on the revered principles of Shari'a, Emirates Islamic Bank's association with the foundation and the conference is a logical extension of its core value of community support and to share the prosperity with the needy.
