'The UAE Government is committed to protecting the growth and economy of the region, and is acutely aware of the vital role that energy issues play in both social and economic development. I am confident that Middle East Electricity presents a wealth of business opportunities and sophisticated solutions that will help the growth and development of power infrastructures throughout the region.'
The largest ever showcase of products and services for all sectors of the energy industry ever staged in the Middle East and North Africa, the event comprehensively covers power generation, water, lighting, gas and new & renewable energy.
'Middle East Electricity has achieved remarkable growth over its 33 year history as a result of its relevance to the specific needs of the region and the many thousands of key energy professionals who visit the show every year,'
said Sarah Woodbridge, Group Director - Exhibitions at IIR Middle East, organisers of the event.
The intensifying challenges facing governments in the Middle East and North Africa are ever changing, and the demand for highly advanced energy solutions is stronger than ever. 'We have consistently enhanced the show over the years, introducing specific focus areas such as water and lighting, to maximise its effectiveness,' added Woodbridge. 'Our strong industry links mean that we can deliver a platform that really contributes to the development of the region's energy capabilities, and we take this responsibility very seriously.'
A number of major multi-million dollar deals are expected to be announced during the event's four-day run, as is an all-time record attendance. 'Visitor pre-registration was especially strong this year,' added Woodbridge. 'We're expecting in excess of 35,000 trade visitors from more than 95 countries this year, a high proportion of whom are key decision makers.' Middle East Electricity 2008 covers 34,000 square metres, is 17% larger than last year and features over 900 exhibitors from 55 countries plus 20 country pavilions.
