Porsche to launch new Cayenne GTS and 911 GT2 in Dubai

Having made its world debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show, the 4.8-litre Porsche Cayenne GTS has been modified to deliver even more pace with perfect poise and precision.

The engine delivers a massive 405 bhp at 6,500 rpm while the torque level registers 500 Nm at a low range of 3,500 rpm. A shorter axel ratio means this new Porsche is capable of scintillating performance, reaching 100 km/h from standstill in just 6.1 seconds; this is almost unheard of in an SUV.

The design reflects the car's attitude, with the front and rear resembling the all-out Cayenne Turbo, and the striking 14mm wheel-arch enlargements, combined with the standard 21-inch alloy rims and low-profile tyres provide plenty of visual aggression. Two new colours have been reserved exclusively for this new model: GTS Red and Nordic Gold Metallic. Meanwhile, newly developed 12-way sports seats and a leather-Alcantara mix emphasise the sporty interior.

For those looking for a remarkable streetcar, the 911 GT2 - also revealed at Frankfurt - is the most powerful 911 ever homologated for road use. It is lightning fast, reaching 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds and continuing to a top speed of 329 km/h. The 3.6-litre engine with two exhaust gas turbochargers featuring variable turbine geometry (VTG) achieves its maximum output of 530 bhp at 6500 rpm, with maximum torque of 680 Nm maintained consistently between 2,200 and 4,500 rpm.

Engineers have placed much emphasis on the 911 GT2's green credentials; with an average fuel consumption of just 12.5 litres/100 km in the New European Driving Cycle (NEDC), this car offers a level of fuel economy regarded as quite impossible in this performance class just a few years ago.

For this to happen, the reduction of weight has been a key issue and the GT2 now comes standard with super-light PCCB brakes featuring discs made of a carbon-fibre and ceramic compound.

Commenting on the dual launch, Deesch Papke, Managing Director of Porsche Middle East & Africa, is convinced Porsche has the most comprehensive range of performance cars. 'The Cayenne GTS is an incredibly exciting proposition,' he said. 'It is an SUV with power and stunning looks, it is a 4x4 that believes it's a sports car. The 911 GT2, however, has to be one of the most eagerly awaited launches ever in this region. To offer the fastest, most powerful Porsche ever to leave Stuttgart is a thrilling prospect.'
