RCSI-MUB inaugurates Healthcare Master ProgramRCSI-MUB inaugurates Healthcare Master Program

RCSI-MUB has recently inaugurated Masters in Healthcare Law and Ethics for those working in healthcare-oriented fields.

The program aims to make the participants aware of healthcare law, ethics, difficulties, problems, various legal issues, and legal and social responsibilities of doctors.

The program is designed to prepare doctors, nurses, administrators and lawyers and provide them with the skills required to avoid legal and moral medical mistakes they could face while practicing their profession, dealing with such mistakes the right way and finding the ideal solutions with the aim of ensuring more effective and influential healthcare management.

Associate Professor David Withford from RCSI-MUB said, "We decided to introduce such specialization in Bahrain according to the program's great results and successes in Ireland."

He added, "A number of international experts confirmed that doctors, nurses, relevant administrators, professionals, lawyers should consider and understand the healthcare rules and morals of their profession, underlining the induction training programs."

The Healthcare Law and Ethics Program is designed for doctors and lawyers as a part time program supervised by top experts from Ireland and the Gulf and shall be kicked of on the 17th of February 2008.

The Medical University of Bahrain (MUB), a constituent of the Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland (RSCI), has signed a Public Relations agreement with FP7 Bahrain to handle its communications plan and activities. RCSI-MUB, officially opened in Bahrain in October 2004 in the Seef District, provides healthcare education and training to world standards in Bahrain, drawing students from Bahrain, Britain, Bangladesh, Canada, Egypt, Germany, India, Iraq, Iran, Ireland, Italy, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Morocco, Nigeria, Oman, Pakistan, Palestine, Qatar, Turkey, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Sweden, Syria and Yemen.Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, United States of America.

In March 2006, the foundation stone for the new RCSI-MUB campus in Muharraq has been jointly laid by His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Khalifa bin Salman Al-Khalifa and the Deputy Prime Minister of Ireland, Mary Harney. The University's new BD 20-plus million campus will occupy an area of 90,000sqm and will be built in phases starting with the central administration and medical teaching building and student accommodation which should be fully operational by mid 2008. In September 2006 the school of Nursing has opened its doors for students where it is considered the first non governmental nursing school in Bahrain that gives a bachelor's degree and other schools in the fields of pharmacy, physiotherapy and dentistry will be added to the campus at a later phase.
