Egypt goes to CeBit

Relying on international appreciation and eyeing global investments, Egypt will participate in CeBIT Hanover 2008 during March 4-9, 2008.

The Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA), will head a group of 29 Egyptian ICT companies (17 participants and 12 visitors) to this prestigious event.

The products and solutions of the 17 Egyptian companies will be showcased in a 350 square stand in a premium location at hall 6. The companies will be located under the Egyptian pavilion that will sure dazzle and impress the visitors of CeBit. Egyptian companies do appreciate the opportunity of being around in the largest ICT fair in the world as they are keen on increasing their exports and engaging with prospect clients.

Egyptian companies coming to CeBit vary and offer different lines of products and solutions.

Link Development, Advanced Computer Technology (ACT), Egypt Network focus on marketable ICT solutions and providing state-of-the-art solutions. Xceed Contact Center also provides a full range of inbound and outbound call center services.

In the field of telecommunication, Telecom and Technology Company (TeleTech) provides solutions for network technology (ATM, IP/MPLS) and next-generation broadband networks.
Link Egypt, specialized in software development, focuses in the rapidly emerging technology of Rich Internet Applications and Ajax development.

In networking and data communication applications Misr International Systems (MIS) happens to be a pioneer of cutting edge communication technology across wide applications spectrum in both security and communication. As well Softlock offers a variety of products and services for copyright protection of software.

Focusing on customers' needs and market demand, Allied Soft provides Software system development and implementation, advanced IT training, Network solutions creation, and consultancy services. Furthermore, ITSoft also provides software services for the Banking & Finance industry and Telecommunications. Aiming at advancing and nurturing the IT industry in Egypt, the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) was established in 2004 to act as the developer and promoter of the Egyptian IT industry. Relying on unequivocal governmental support, ITIDA utilizes a vast array of advantages and privileges bestowed on Egypt and synchronizes public and private efforts in order to place the country high on the global market' scale.

Armed with commitment and insight, ITIDA manifests its perspective with a number of programs carefully designed to enhance the Egyptian Information Technology Industry through capacity building program. The agency also promotes Industry/Universities collaboration, through linking academic research with industry and market needs. Through its Intellectual Property Rights Office (IPR), ITIDA aims at ensuring an effective enforcement of the Copyright Law by fighting piracy and sanctioning all infringements in order to guarantee an efficient protection to computer programs and databases.

The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology and affiliate bodies are currently spearheading an effort to increase IT and ITES exports through a strategy formulated in a manner that reflects the public-private partnership which is one of the unique traits of the sector. The strategy pays special attention to enhancing the capacities of Egyptian ICT companies and professionals with special emphasis on cooperation with NGOs to reach various layers of targeted groups. The strategy aims at increasing IT/ITES exports to reach 1.1 billion U.S. dollars by 2010.

A.T. Kearney consultancy firm puts Egypt in the 13th position on its Global Services Location Index 2007, while the Yankee Group issued a report in May 2007 predicting that Egypt would be the India of the Middle East provided that the country stays the current course.

Egypt hosts various international companies like Microsoft, Oracle, Valeo, IBM, Satyam, Wipro, SQS, Teleperformance, Orange France Telecom, Vodafone, and HSBC. Choosing Egypt as an offshoring location stems from unique privileges bestowed on the country. Egypt is favored with a geographical location that allows the country to serve various time zones, availability of engineering and IT graduates, and abundance of manpower capable of conversing in various languages with an accent-free manner.
