Nashwa Al Ruwaini to participate in US-Islamic World Forum

Nashwa Al Ruwaini, media personality and Executive Director of the Middle East International Film Festival and CEO of Production company Pyramedia will participate in the 5th US-Islamic World Forum to be held in Doha from 16th-18th February at the Ritz Carlton Hotel.

Nashwa will be speaking at a number of the sessions to be held during the 3-day event including the Cultural Workshop on 'Leveraging the Potential of the Arts'. Nashwa will be discussing how best to maximize on the new technologies for publishing and distributing creative media and how best to promote cultural entrepreneurship in the region.

The forum will host a number of speakers, whom are all experts in their fields, from around the world including, John Esposito, Georgetown University; Francis Fukuyama, Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies; Hamid Karzai, President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and Madeleine Albright, Former US Secretary of State.

The Forum was established to bring together key leaders in the fields of politics, business, media and academia, from across the Muslim World and the United States, as can be seen by its extensive list of panelists and participants which number more than 100 specialists. The Forum is organized by the Saban Center for Middle East Policy at the Brookings Institution and is hosted in cooperation with the Foreign Ministry of the Government of the State of Qatar. The Brookings institution was established around 90 years ago and is a nonprofit organization dedicated to independent research and policy solutions.

The Forum will be covering a number of topics related to the relationship between the US and the Islamic world and will be tackling issues such as the present status of the relationship, addressing the conflicts that exist and how to promote better cooperation between the two regions.

Nashwa Al Ruwaini quotes, 'This is a timely event and I am pleased to be apart of such discussions regarding our region and I hope to continue to work on bridging the gap between the two worlds. The forum has achieved so much over the past few years and by having such esteemed panelists with us I am positive we will see the fruits of this event in the not so distant future.'

Nashwa has been involved in a number of initiatives related to the media with the aim of bridging the gap between the West and the Islamic world. Nashwa began her career in Qatar working for Qatar TV and has since moved on to present and produce a number of TV programs addressing issues in the Middle East and Islamic world.

In addition to Nashwa's work on the Middle East International Film Festival and her production company Pyramedia, she also presents and produces her own talk show named 'With Nashwa' which is aired weekly on Dubai TV and is the most popular television show of its kind in the region addressing topical and often controversial issues facing the region. Nashwa's production company Pyramedia was also established a number of years ago to produce content which is culturally enlightening about the Middle East region to combat the negative images of this part of the world.
