Chubb Fire takes firefighting to the next level

The NN 100, of which Chubb Fire is the exclusive importer in Qatar, is safe not only for humans and the environment, but also for property. The seminar was held at the Doha Seef Hotel in the presence of consultants, key clients, and developers. "Conventional fire suppression systems that are used as of today in most applications use either carbon dioxide or Halon 1301 as the active suppression agent," explained Mr. Rami Al Batrawi in his lecture. "These have several shortcomings including emissions that are toxic to human beings, damage to delicate or sensitive property and ozone depletion, as well as hampering visibility and slowing escape when they are used to douse a fire."

In contrast, the NN 100 system uses pure nitrogen as the active suppression agent. "Nitrogen is an inert gas that constitutes 78% of the air we breathe," said Mr. Al Batrawi. "The system works by temporarily increasing the nitrogen content of the air, thereby reducing the oxygen content and starving the fire." He continued: "It is a simple and extremely effective solution that has none of the drawbacks of conventional systems."

Since nitrogen is the only emission, it is perfectly harmless to humans as well as the environment. Its vaporous state means there is no liquid or condensation that can damage computers, electronic equipment, precision instruments or valuable pieces of art. Even better, the system is ozone friendly and does not reduce visibility when it is used, thus allowing easier escape for people caught near a fire. Furthermore, nitrogen is easily and cheaply available on a commercial scale, making it easy to maintain and refill the NN 100 system.
