'Dubai is at the heart of the increasing globalisation between East and West, and Middle East Electricity, at which we are exhibiting for the third consecutive year due to the incredible effectiveness of the event, is the perfect springboard for our campaign to gain a foothold in the market of sealing technology for mobile power supplies and decentralised infrastructure with this completely new material,' said Michael Seibold, CEO of Hauff-Technik.

Hauff-Technik's Gelomer Plugs are ideal for sealing cables that need to be laid into metal-walled housings and containers. Just 3 different sizes of Gelomer Plug are all that are needed to simply and reliably seal the entire range of cable sizes from 5 mm to 40 mm diameter. With an integrated blank seal, Gelomer Plugs can also be used to seal reserve openings or protect entries before a cable is installed.

The Gelomer Plug is made up of a rugged elastomer outer sleeve and a soft gel core. The outer sleeve forms a positive fit with the opening, ensuring a tight seal to the case, while the gel core seals the cable. A reliable seal, with an IP 68 rating and gas and water-tightness up to at least 0.1 bar, can easily be achieved without any deformation of the cable. The plugs are easy to install, without the need for tools. They are ultra-flexible to cope with cable movement, and remain resilient even under extreme temperature fluctuations. A total absence of plasticisers guarantees outstanding long-term stability in very hot regions like the Middle East.

'Middle East Electricity's unique difference is that it attracts a wide range of key decision makers, right up to MD and CEO level, so the meetings we have at the show are always very serious and productive - we don't experience this at any other show anywhere else in the world,' added Seibold.

Other Hauff-Technik products on display include the proven Easy Fire fire-barrier cushions and blocks. Now also available with rubber press seals in compliance with British Standard requirements, they can be used virtually anywhere to provide fire protection combined with gas and water-tightness. The Easy Fire fire-barrier cushions provide a fireproof, smoke-tight barrier, protecting power cables, and cable trunking. They are designed for use when cables need to be installed retrospectively in a flexible, dust-free process in hostile industrial environments under constantly changing conditions.

Hauff-Technik has been engineering and manufacturing for 53 years in two plants in Germany, and distributes its five product groups, encompassing around 3,000 products, worldwide. The company has sales centres in Herbrechtingen, Essen, Leipzig and Wittstock (all in Germany), plus 18 national agencies in Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, France, Hungary, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Oman, Poland, Romania, Russia, Sweden, Switzerland, United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom.

Hauff-Technik employs 120 people and in 2007 generated sales of more than €22m ($32m). Hauff-Technik supplies its products to power supply companies, city utilities, construction companies, major installation enterprises, industrial companies and private building customers. Hauff-Technik distribution partners outside Germany ensure that delivery times are as short as possible.

Internationally recognised as the power behind the Middle East Energy industry, and rated by exhibitors and visitors as the world's leading event of its kind, Middle East Electricity 2008 has attracted a larger than ever audience of key decision makers from all around the GCC region. The show, which covers 34,000 square metres, is 17% larger than last year and features over 900 exhibitors from 55 countries plus 20 country pavilions - it runs through until 13th February and is supported by the Federal Electricity and Water Authority and sponsored by C&S Controls and Switchgear, Clipsal, Eaton, Havells Sylvania, Jengan and Jubaili Brothers.
