Abu Dhabi's 13th Terry Fox Run raises Dhs235,000 on the day with more to come

Over 10,000 participants ran, jogged, rollerbladed and walked at the 13th annual Abu Dhabi Terry Fox Run held in the capital recently.

The event, which was held under the patronage of His Excellency Sheikh Sultan bin Hamdan Al Nahyan, Advisor to the President of the UAE, raised AED235,000 on the day of the event. The money will be donated for innovative cancer research in the UAE.

Last year, the Abu Dhabi Terry Fox Run Committee raised Dhs73,000 on the day of the Run, making this year a record breaker with a 70% increase. In 2007, organisers confirmed that they raised a total of Dhs425,000. to date, organisers have collected more than last year's total; donations following this year's Run are still pouring in.

The Run was inaugurated by His Excellency Sheikh Sultan bin Hamdan Al Nahyan and Her Excellency Sara Hradecky, Canadian Ambassador to the UAE.
