naseba is proud to have hosted the MENA Airport Awards in partnership with Skytrax on February 10th, at the Marriott Hotel during the Airport Expansion Mid-East congress, produced and organized by naseba.
This year, the awards focused on the region's fastest growing and most influential airports Dubai, Doha, Abu Dhabi, Cairo, Muscat, and Bahrain, which were nominated for the six awards. After introducing the ceremony and the nominees, Edward Plaisted, CEO of Skytrax and Philippe Saad from BBC World revealed the winners.
The six categories were:
Fastest Growing Airport Award
Best Airport and Airline Partnership Award
Best International Transit Award
Best Security Processing Award
Best Duty Free Award
Best Overall Baggage Delivery Award
The winners:
Dubai - "Fastest Growing Airport"
Dubai - "Best Duty Free"
Doha - "Best Airport and Airline Partnership"
Bahrain - "Best International Transit"
Bahrain - "Security Processing"
Abu Dhabi - "Best Overall Baggage Delivery"
The Awards were collected by:
Abu Dhabi - Mohammed Abdulla Al Katheeri, the Deputy Chief Operating Officer of Abu Dhabi Airport.
Dubai Airport - Rimzie Ismail, Head of Marketing at DCA, Dubai.
Doha - Akbar Al Baker, the CEO of DIA and Qatar Airways.
Bahrain - Hind Bucheery, Head of projects at Bahrain Airport Services.
The naseba MENA Airport Awards organized and hosted every year by naseba, will recognize the region's best experts in the aviation industry.
Moving along with the latest developments in the industry, the 2009 edition add additional focus to the Airlines and Aviation services that are responsible for supporting the Airports in their Growth.
