- PRESS RELEASE
Qatar Foundation's landmark healthcare project, Sidra Medical and Research Center, today announced the launch of its official website at www.sidra.org in both English and Arabic.
It also provides ongoing updates on the project as well as employment opportunities. New positions will be posted on a regular basis. When Sidra opens in four years, it will employ thousands and will seek to be an employer of choice.
Another feature of the Sidra website is a Message from Her Highness Sheikha Mozah bint Nasser Al Missned, Chair of the Sidra Board of Governors and of Qatar Foundation.
"The addition of Sidra Medical and Research Center to Education City is perhaps our most ambitious and far-reaching project to date," said Her Highness Sheikha Mozah. "It will provide healthcare of the highest global standards to the people of Qatar and the Gulf region. As a fundamental element of its design, it will provide specialty care for women and children to help nurture and protect our families - the heart of our culture."
Patient care at Sidra will be world class and delivered in an innovative setting that combines the amenities of a luxury facility/environment with the latest in medical technology. Working closely with Weill Cornell Medical College in Qatar, Sidra will serve as a state-of-the-art teaching hospital for medical students and resident physicians while its biomedical research facility will help build the nation's scientific capabilities and promote a knowledge-based economy.
"Exploration and discovery is a part of Qatar's heritage, and Sidra Medical and Research Center will allow us to chart a new course," said Dr. Mohamad Fathy Saoud, President of Qatar Foundation and Vice Chair of the Sidra Board of Governors. "With the expertise and resources developed at Sidra, Qatar will have the opportunity to become a significant contributor to biomedical research."
Also featured on the Sidra website are architectural images and a 7-minute virtual tour. Designed by world-renowned architect Cesar Pelli in collaboration with executive architectural firm Ellerbe Becket, Sidra will feature three spectacular atriums with indoor gardens, fountains, natural sunlight and other aesthetic elements, all of which help create a unique healing environment.
