I am delighted that my team's dedication, commitment to training and expertise has been acknowledge. There is no doubt that this will be maintained and we hope to achieve greater heights in the future.'
'In November we launched a new initiative known as the Contractors Partnership Program for which we received our second award at the Award Ceremony; Specialist Achievement Award for Quality Healthcare Improvement Initiative. The initiative aims for Tawam to engage in longer term mutually beneficial relationships with selected quality suppliers and partners. As a result we can live up to our promise of delivering high quality healthcare services to our patients while recognizing our key service and product contractors that make this possible. We, therefore, share this great achievement with our partners!' added Heindel.
With the aim to expand the portfolio of clinical conferences, Arab Health included a series of workshops at this year's congress, one of which looked at one of the leading causes of death in the UAE; Cardiovascular Disease. These were presented by acclaimed lecturers and professors from the United States including Dr. Mahmoud Malas, Assistant Professor of Surgery at Johns Hopkins University and Director of Vascular Interventional Therapy at Johns Hopkins Bayview Campus. Tawam Hospital supported the conference with a live transmission of a carotid stenting procedure performed at Tawam Hospital by the Chairman of the session, Dr. Heitham T. Hassoun, Assistant Professor of Surgery at Johns Hopkins Medicine and Director of Vascular Interventional Therapy.
Michael E. Heindel, CEO of Tawam Hospital, said: 'Tawam Hospital is proud to have actively participated in the newly introduced seminar regarding cardiovascular disease. It is a disease that few understand and more often are unaware of its true origins. I believe that the live transmission of the procedures performed by our very own internal specialist added great value to the seminar and the audience gained clearer understanding and insight. It once again reinforced the hospital's aim to provide the best healthcare facilities to its patients and thus minimizing the number of patients being referred abroad for complex operations.'
'Tawam also unveiled the first mobile mammography unit in the UAE at Arab Health. According to recent studies, 1 in 10 women are at risk of developing cancer. This unique program aims to reach the women of the interior and seeks to screen up to 20 patients per day. By screening more women, more regularly, we hope to significantly reduce the number of fatalities. The ultrasound images are instantly transmitted to the support team at Tawam Hospital where they are diagnosed and within hours the correct treatment can be recommended to the patient, should this be necessary,' added Heindel.
Tawam Hospital, Al Ain's largest hospital, is the preferred choice in specialist healthcare offering orthopedic surgery, oncology, family medicine, fertility services, intensive care, neurosurgery, pediatrics, a cardiac center, the national center for cancer registry, and the newest and largest blood bank in the UAE.
