EADS Defence & Security to supply SAMOC to Saudi Arabian forces

SAMOC (Surface-to-Air Missile Operations Centre) enables efficient
deployment of air defence systems
Growth potential to meet future requirements
Delivery to start in early 2009

The existing SAMOC has been specially adapted by DS to meet the needs of the Saudi Arabian armed forces. The delivery comprises Command,
Control and Communications (C3) software installed on workstations.

The workstations are integrated into a building, which is housing the Air Defence Control Centre (ADCC).

A Multi Data Link Processor (MDLP) from DS provides the link to the subordinated Air Defence Operation Centres (ADOCs), which control the PATRIOT, HAWK and SHAHINE weapon systems. In addition, spares packages are to be delivered and maintenance and operator training provided.

The Battle Management Command, Control, Computers and Intelligence (BMC4I) functionalities of SAMOC enable the Saudi Arabian armed forces to efficiently utilise their existing air defence systems in mixed deployment.

Before and during missions as well as in training, the armed forces will receive support in the form of extensive operations planning and execution as well as administration applications in real time and non-real time.

The open system architecture provides for system growth to cope with future threats and developments and therefore forms the basis for further extensions to the existing structures, also outside the ground-based air defence.

Following completion of the Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) at the Defence and Communications Systems Ulm site in Germany, the system is to be delivered at the end of January 2009.

After successful integration and a Site Acceptance Test (SAT), it will be handed over to the user in late April 2009.
