- PRESS RELEASE
Abu Dhabi Airport operator, ADAC last week scooped one of the aviation industry's top awards for the efficiency and speed of the baggage reclaim at the capital's airport.
The award ceremony was held at a Doha-based airport expansion conference in which ADAC was both presenting and participating.
SkyTrax CEO Edward Plaisted said: 'Abu Dhabi International Airport is to be congratulated. This award is recognition from passengers of the speed and efficiency with which their baggage is unloaded and transported to the terminal. It is the passenger whom we ask for their views at airports throughout the Middle East and Abu Dhabi came out top. These awards are about the airport experience from the perspective of the consumer and as such are independent.'
ADAC chairman HE Khalifa Al Mazourei said:
'Our aim at the airport is to make it easy for passengers and provide a safe, clean and efficient environment for them to pass through. One of our strengths as an airport is the focus we put into the speed with which passengers who have arrived can go through from plane to taxi or waiting car. In most cases that is much less than 30 minutes, and more likely to be around 20 minutes. This speed of transit together with the congestion free road network around the airport makes us an attractive proposition for passengers and the airlines who operate here.'
The conference in Doha saw ADAC's new director of marketing and communications Mohamed Al Bulooki present on behalf of ADAC about plans for the airport over the next few years.
Mr. Bulooki said: 'The award we received in Doha from the SkyTrax organisation is recognition of our commitment to customer service and to the progress we have made and we look forward to welcoming more airlines to Abu Dhabi and Al Ain in the coming months.'
