In an innovative move, Zain took over and totally rebranded a 2000 sqm multi storey restaurant named 'La Font de Prades' located in the 'Poble Espanyol' - an historic Spanish town area very close to the 3GSM Convention centre in the heart of Barcelona. Structural adaptations and colourful Zain branding were made to the restaurant to handle Zain personnel and the large number of visitors that exceeded 2,000 people over the 4 days of the event.

Zain's exceptional presence had a very strong business message. Dr. Saad Al-Barrak, Managing Director and Deputy Chairman elaborated, "We have a stated corporate objective to become a top-ten global mobile company by 2011 and our presence here puts us on the same stage as the other giants of the mobile telecoms industry. Over the four days we discussed our future strategies with our peers and international media as well as concluding many deals with major suppliers, at the same time showcasing our new corporate brand Zain."

Dignitaries and executives from the mobile communications industry visited Zain's unique facility. Of particular interest to everyone at the congress was the visit of Mr Joan Laporta, Chairman of Barcelona Football Club spending some time talking with Mr Asaad Al Banwan, Chairman of Zain and Dr Al Barrak who commented, "Barcelona is undoubtedly becoming famous for hosting these huge Mobile communications events, but perhaps another great claim to fame is for being home to one of the world's truly great football teams - Barcelona FC".

One of the highlights of the event was Zain's Gala Dinner attended by 500 VIP guests from industry and Barcelona's high society. Dr Saad concluded, "Our intention was to launch and showcase Zain to international audiences and to put the Zain brand on the world map of mobile communications. From the praise and thanks heaped on us for a truly memorable evening, it certainly seems we have succeeded."
