i-mate takes centre stage in Barcelona

The global mobile and wireless industry gathered this week at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona to feature the latest in technology and developments that define the industry's trends and growth for the year to come.

This year i-mate, the global specialist in Windows Mobile devices and software applications, launched new devices and solutions and announced new and exclusive partnerships.

The Ultimate Range - New devices


i-mate™ launched the latest devices in its Ultimate range - the Ultimate 9502 and the Ultimate 8502 - a collection of devices in various forms to suit individual preferences, from classic PDA to a notebook replacement and were designed to provide the latest and best in phone and PDA technology. With a wide variety of features ranging from to HSDPA and HSUPA connectivity to the 262k colour TFT screen, every component of each device is specified at a very high level.

i-Q Services


As part of i-mate's service proposition, Mobile World Congress also marked the launch of i-mate's i-Q Services to enhance the i-mate user and management, security and customisation experience in an easy out of the box experience. With i-Q, i-mate can immediately customise user devices, fully support devices on a 24/7 basis and protect and if necessary, remotely wipe devices that are lost or stolen in as little as 48 hours. Mobile Operators can use i-Q to improve their services to the enterprise segment and to accelerate their time-to-market with new mobile devices to address the rapidly expanding mobile workforce.

Strategic partnership


i-mate announced a new and exclusive strategic partnership with Telstra Corporation Limited, Australia's leading telecommunications company to launch the i-mate Ultimate 8502 and i-mate Ultimate 9502. Building on a five-year partnership which has seen the successful launch of ten i-mate devices on the Telstra network, Telstra is the first operator to deploy these devices globally and both devices will be exclusive in Australia to its customers.

Also at Mobile World Congress i-mate also appointed Hugh Symons Telecom as the UK distributor partner for the latest i-mate Windows Mobile devices including the Ultimate and JAMA ranges. Hugh Symons Telecom is an innovative value added distributor and service provider within the converging fixed, mobile and IT networking markets.

The Mobile World Congress took place in Barcelona from the 11th till the 14th of February 2008.
